Painting for me starts with wide strokes, whether the composition is planned or not.
I like to paint with a brush in my left hand and a palette knife in my right.  This way I can detail with my left and carve edges and or glaze in color with my right.
It is a fluid process that sometimes works right away, and other times is sanded away then restarted.
Either way, paint is built up in layers and a sense of volume is created. The images tend to be dark and bold and sometimes satirical, reflecting the response I have toward the world as I see it.
